Haikyuu is back for another season, making clear once again why it’s so popular. It’s just so good. Yes, it’s about volleyball, arguably not the most popular ball-related team sport but still it’s so well made that finding anything wrong with it is difficult. I mean look at it! The animation is very good, the directing is creative, the voice acting brilliant, the characters unique and the story easy to follow but captivating nonetheless. It’s well thought out and very well executed.
Okay, since my endorsement of Haikyuu is over and done with, let’s move on. Season 2 of Haikyuu!!: To the Top starts where we left off a few months back. There is no major reintroduction of the characters or the situation, we just get on with the match without delay. Our boys from Karasuno High are up against some pretty stiff competition at the moment with Inarizaki High proving as frightening as advertised. Although Hinata and Kageyama are impressive as per usual, their opponents and their fans are perhaps even more so. Setting aside their ace, their teamwork and overall athletic abilities, Inarizaki High make excellent use of their enthusiastic supporters. Drums, brass instruments, booing, yelling, singing and even a conductor are enlisted to disrupt Karasuno High’s tempo while improving their own. How brilliant is that.
You get the picture right? Excellent first episode. ‘Nough said.
