Think of speaking or shouting: we use chest voice there. The quality of the sound we make using our chest voice is rougher and has a bigger ‘body’ when compared to the head voice. It is common to feel vibrations in the upper part of the chest, specifically the sternum, as the sound resonates there. The chest voice is at the lower singing register and can be expanded to higher frequencies with training.
